This simple webpage introduces One Insight Press, my imprint, which, along with myself, is located in San Francisco - as well as in my mind - between which there is considerable overlap - much to my joy and sorrow.

I use
Kindle Direct Publishing as well as LuLu, to create publications. I have worked with others to help them create their own collections of poetry, and can assist you as well.

Just below are my own books, then
an anthology I edited, and below those are two poetry collections, to which I contributed in many vital ways, as such they are examples of what I've done for others. To inquire about projects, or the imprint, use my email portal

All of those are followed by digital manuscripts
Digital Work, including Short Stories, Novels in Progress, and Samplers as well as new poetry collections, some of which are large collections, archival in design.

Haiku: Infolded Meaning By Dan Brady - This is a selected collection of my haiku. I have a long history with this poetic form and remember first composing haiku in 4th grade, yet I still find it fascinating today. While, in essence, haiku is a simple set of three lines with but seventeen syllables, it may directly or indirectly indicate a season or capture a larger meaning in a momentary perception but haiku speaks of life and brings out something of the eternal in the present, of the infinite in the minute and the ethereal in the real; I find it all quite fascinating! Basho, Shiki and Buson have influenced me as well as reading haiku written by Beat Poets and by my experiences with The Haiku Poets of Northern California. While teaching, I helped students appreciate haiku before we went on Haiku hikes where they found their own voices. As with most skills, teaching others is away to learn and learned to take my own haiku hikes. To this day, when camping or on a nature walk, I find opportunities to write haiku. I hope you'll enjoy this book; here are a couple of my favorites: In the cleft of clover Single dew drop gleams All the sun's circle inside Water strider A kick Ripples the moon.

Tales of Earth, By Dan Brady - Science fiction has always been a favorite form of prose. When I was young, I'd buy used paperbacks for a nickel or dime at bookstores or flea markets and was greatly entertained for hours on end. I used to stack them on my bookshelves as one did tape cassettes, back in the day, and, with their titles visible. I would then select a favorite to enjoy rediscovering ever more as I did so.

This collection of stories, and psalms, portray the range of influences, which affected my writing. I grew up watching the Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Star Trek, and One Step Beyond. I read authors such as Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, A.E. Van Vogt, H.G.. Wells, Jules Verne and a great number of sci-fi anthologies. Then too, I enjoyed H.P.. Lovecraft, Poe and works such as Paradise Lost, The Odyssey, Frankenstein, and Grimm's Fairy Tales. I also read a great deal of poetry over the years.

Altogether, in this volume, there is evidence for each of those influences. In it you'll hear those voices, behold such visions and virtual vistas as they come to life. This selection of bizarre tales takes one from the beginning of time to its end and beyond.

Yes, there may be stranger things yet to come, as well as the time to tell of them, but I hope this collection will be memorable, for all that. May you grok and enjoy!

This manuscript has several stories which, by themselves, would make great short features, or feature length films!

(i)n((s(i)gh)t) to;(r(io)t): Poems for a change By Dan Brady - Dan's writing has always dealt with history, the pursuit of happiness and truth, philosophy, love, war, the future, of politics, dreams or nightmares and the great issues of the human condition which call through his heart, mind and soul. This collection was put together for a reason - for just cause. He has long spoken of "the problem" - the human community of this world is not progressing in a positive, healthy direction, overall. It can be said that humanity is devouring itself as well as the world upon which it should be thriving. Because much of our troubles are human made, it is time for corrective measures, reconciliation, restitution and a redress of grievances great and small. Some poems illuminate what we, as a people, a global community, stand to win should we make the changes needed, "Good News" Others portray issues, "Faux News" or the consequences of inaction, "Gone" and "Long After Time" In the concluding section, "Beating Around the Bush" Dan models how "We, the people" can impact anyone of our 1% with a set of suggestions applicable to the royal foil, Mr. G. W. Bush. Dan only speaks for his own nation's role in the current malaise of meandering misanthropic malevolent meanies.

This book's title is an example of 3-D writing, a kind of coding or abbreviating to write more than one word at a time. This style of linguistic presentation has evolved over time,
but here is an explanation from some time ago; it provides some necessary insight to the reader.

Runaway with the Wind: Diary of a Small Person By Dan Brady - This is a wonderful adventure tale. A child abandons an abusive home and heads for the hills, as they used to say in a simpler time. This cinematic story line provides hope for the future.

The child would not survive long in the wild were it not for the vast and elemental friend who chooses to provide support.

The wind comes to the Jan's aid and all is well for some time, however Jan's ability to communicate with the wind and call upon it draws the attentions of certain elements of the government, the military, and a host of unknown forces, all of which have their reasons for wanting to understand how Jan communicates and seemingly commands an elemental force of such magnitude and power.

When Jan is befriended by Mr. Fish, an ordinary appearing native American, the adventure takes an ominous turn as the pair is hunted. Only ancient and wholly mystical methods allow them to escape to a place and time beyond human knowledge. Jan comes of age there and all is well until the wind comes, in terrible pain, calling for help.

Jan and Mr. Fish go back to the civilization they had escaped from only to be pursued by the same malevolent forces staging a show down between the animal kingdom and a humanity gone mad. A desperate battle for the freedom of the wind, for liberty brings about an end to the violence of warfare and the dawn of a new world.

Autobiography of a Poet: Volume One By Dan Brady - This is an autobiography of a poet, imagine that, the pieces, written by me over decades, have been collected to provide a cubistic sort of montage of who I am and, perhaps, why. As to who might care, that is certainly another question. Copyright, 2020

Each of these three volumes has an identical foreword," Welcome to the portals of the past, mazes of memory, the reservoir of reflections, the quilt of quietude, the translucent wash of wonders, and profound seasons of silence."

This collection was partly inspired by my age, 67 at the onset of this undertaking, and the process provided me enough both sadness and joy. It was quite the mental and emotional work out. Most of the pieces deal with my family, growing up, and becoming an adult. There are, of course, gaps but, as I wanted to keep the undertaking simple, I decided beforehand to use only those pieces I already had as part of my corpus. Some pieces are based on memories, or collections of same, reflections, and even workshop prompts. The reader may not stylistic changes because I included pieces that are quite old as well as those recently written at the time. I hope you'll enjoy the journey, find something of use and, as with all my books, pass it along to others.

Autobiography of a Poet: Volume Two By Dan Brady - This is volume two of my three volume set of autobiographical poetry. It covers the grounds, bases, and more. This is the younger adult phase, college, post college, career, marriage, and an increasing awareness of an individuals role in their own life, the lives of their friends, family, community, nation, and world. So, as Mom once said, "There is always something useful to do; just look around. Copyright, 2020

This volume begins with my time in San Francisco where I attended San Francisco State, took a few creative writing courses, self identified as a poet, and began attending poetry events, hosting events, the open mic series at Bound Together Bookstore, now on Haight Street, then on Hayes. I also began an in depth exploration of Haiku, associating with the Haiku Society of Northern California for a number of years. I also cooperated in producing Birthstone Magazine and read at Sacred Grounds Cafe in the mid to late 70's.

Don Brennan was a San Francisco Poet best known for his readings in local coffee shops, book stores, and an occasional bar or two. He could be found near most any protest in the city as long as it served a noble cause. He was a loving and caring person who just wanted to be a poet.
